This month we feature noted and popular
Balinese artist I Ketut Soki
Among Arie Smit's many achievements a
notable one was his creation of the
Young Artists School in Bali.

I Ketut Soki was one of Arie's first pupils.

Annemarie Hollitzer, has written an
account on Arie Smit that mentions Ketut
Soki. Here is an extract, "One day in
1960, when Arie Smit lived in a house near
Campuhan in the Ubud district, he went
for a walk through the rice fields in
neighbouring Penestanan. There he
found a young boy drawing pictures in
the sand. Smit invited the youth to his
studio and gave him crayons and paper.
The name of the young boy was I Nyoman
Cakra. As a true Balinese, Nyoman didn’t
want to be alone, so he asked, “Can my
nephew come too?” His nephew was I
Ketut Soki, and these two youths
became Smit’s first pupils."

Pak Soki as he is known is very popular
today. People who visit Bali often buy his
art to remember their stay in that magical
place.
I Ketut Soki
Pak Soki paints every scenes of Bali -
marriage, dances, rice fields, villages and
so on.

His fine, vivid style with bright colors are
very appealing to all the people who
collect his art. They show very well in
homes and offices.

We have  an arrangement with Ketut
Soki to display "samples" of his art. If
you pick a few samples or themes, and
even specify colors, he will paint a work
for you along similar lines (at the price
shown in the catalog) so do remember
not expect a 100% replica of the sample.

Pak Soki's paintings will be original,
unique and certified.
All works shown here belong to the artist. Do NOT
reproduce or copy. All rights reserved.
